Thank you for visiting my web site.
The race that I have entered for Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney is very important and will significantly impact the citizens, crime victims and police agencies in our area for many years to come. I am a firm believer that
"talk is cheap" and that "actions speak louder than words." I expect there will be many claims made or written from the candidates in the coming months concerning their qualifications and alleged ability to effectively serve as Prosecutor, if elected. In contrast, I prefer to rely upon and highlight
my actions and performance under the last three Oakland County Prosecutors to set myself apart. I hope you find this site useful in your search for objective and verifiable election information.
For nearly 17 years, I have worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA) in the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office (OCPO). During that tenure, I have held numerous and diverse positions that have allowed me to work side by side with Oakland County law enforcement professionals. Initially, I was an APA that worked my way through the
Warrants and District Court Divisions. I then became a
Special Prosecutor and for many years was assigned to high profile and sensitive issue felony cases for trial in the Circuit Court Division. While there, I successfully prosecuted thousands of cases before numerous judges. In 2001, I was named
Training Coordinator where my responsibilities included organizing the continuing legal education (CLE) of the more than 100 lawyers in the office and coordinating seminars and
"Legal Updates" for Oakland County police agencies. I was especially proud to play significant roles in multiple
Homicide Investigation and Child Death Investigation
seminars that were attended by hundreds of law enforcement professionals from across Oakland County and the State of Michigan. Other sessions I have helped coordinate for police and prosecutors have been
Fraudulent Driver's Licenses, Sex Offender Registry, Forensic Interviewing Protocol, Rave Party/Trendy Drugs and Property Room Officer Training.
Most recently, I was appointed to the position of Executive Staff Attorney.
I am also proud to have been the OCPO representative in the Adult Treatment Court
(ATC) since March of 2004. [Read the
full article here.] This program is a post-conviction collaboration also involving the Oakland County Circuit Court, Oakland County Probation Department, Community Corrections, the criminal defense bar and others. The purpose of the program is to identify non-violent substance abusers and place them in a highly structured environment while on probation and to address the underlying motivation for their crimes, their drug abuse. The program provides a cost effective alternative to incarceration for those that qualify and a viable way to return to good citizenship for those that succeed. Considering today's shrinking budgets, frequent jail overcrowding, and the amount of drug abuse in our society, ATC and like programs must continue to operate and succeed. If elected, these programs will be one of my priorities.
Oakland County citizens, crime victims and police officers have a right to expect their Prosecutor have the broadest range of experience in order to effectively address the diverse issues that arise in the criminal justice field. No candidate can match my extensive background in conducting felony trials, addressing substance abuse, organizing law enforcement trainings and the involvement in the administration of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. Some candidates may allege they can match my qualifications, but they will never be able to prove this allegation. Do actions speak louder than words to you? If so, I look forward to your support in this election.
