Secontine Continues to Sweep Law Enforcement Endorsements in Oakland County Prosecutor’s Race For Immediate Release The Novi Police Department Lieutenants and Sergeants Association and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #128 have become the latest law enforcement organizations in Oakland County to endorse Assistant Prosecutor Randy Secontine in the Oakland County Prosecutor’s race. FOP Lodge #128 has 425 members and associate members in Southwest Oakland County. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Command Officers Association endorsed Secontine weeks ago, meaning that all of the Oakland County law enforcement organizations which have endorsed so far in the Prosecutor’s race have endorsed Randy Secontine.Secontine, a nearly 17 year veteran of the Prosecutor’s Office, has by far the best law enforcement credentials of the attorneys who have filed for the seat. Currently, Secontine holds the position of Executive Staff Attorney. The Prosecutor’s seat will become open this year with the retirement of David Gorcyca. Gorcyca has said of Secontine, "Randy Secontine is a consummate career prosecutor who has successfully prosecuted hundreds of rapes, robberies and murders. Randy’s experience as a prolific trial prosecutor and his administrative abilities uniquely qualify him to be Oakland County’s next prosecutor. I am confident as our next Prosecutor, Randy Secontine would keep Oakland a safe place to live, work and raise a family." "I am proud to be endorsed by the men and women I have worked along side for many years to keep Oakland County safe." Secontine said. "It is heartwarming that these exceptional officers agree that the County's Chief Law Enforcement Officer should be an experienced prosecutor, and not a politician. Public safety should not be left up to the inexperienced."

Secontine Scores First Law Enforcement Endorsement in Prosecutor’s Race For Immediate Release The Oakland County Command Officers Association has become the first law enforcement organization in the County to endorse in the Oakland County Prosecutor’s race, and it’s choice is Assistant Prosecutor Randy Secontine. The Command Officer’s Association represents Sheriff’s deputies of the rank of Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain in the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department. The members of this organization are among the most experienced in Oakland County law enforcement, and as such are familiar with all of the candidates who have announced for the seat, which will become open with the retirement of David Gorcyca. It is telling that they would endorse Randy Secontine, a nearly 17 year veteran of the Prosecutor’s Office, who has by far the best law enforcement credentials of the attorneys who have filed for the seat. Currently, Secontine holds the title of Executive Staff Attorney at the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. "I am proud to be endorsed by the men and women I have worked along side to keep this county safe for many years," Secontine said. "These experienced officers are primarily motivated to know that their hard work in investigations and arrests will not be in vain, and that the Prosecutor will handle their cases effectively and zealously in the pursuit of justice for all."

Secontine joins race for prosecutor Marc Secontine beams with pride when talking about his younger
brother, Randy Secontine, and his decision to run for Oakland County
prosecutor.
"I think it's awesome," Mark Secontine said Thursday.
"He is such a straight-shooter and he knows the difference between
right and wrong. I just think he's perfect for the job."
A career prosecutor with 17 years of experience with the Oakland
County prosecutor's office, Randy Secontine plans to run on the
Republican ticket. He'll likely face off against former Oakland County Circuit Judge
Jessica Cooper, who's running on the Democratic ticket. Republican Larry
Leib, a Farmington Hills attorney, also announced he's running for the
seat.
But Secontine has a jump on his opponents. He already has the
endorsement of current Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca, who
decided to step down rather than seek re-election.
"Randy Secontine is a consummate career prosecutor who has
successfully prosecuted hundreds of rapes, robberies and murders,"
Gorcyca said in a prepared statement.
"Randy's experience as a prolific trial prosecutor and his
administrative abilities uniquely qualify him to be Oakland County's
next prosecutor."
He also has the endorsement of County Executive L. Brooks Patterson:
"I am proud to say that I originally hired Randy Secontine to be
an assistant prosecutor. I have watched him over the course of two
decades become one of the real stars of the Oakland County prosecutor's
office. Randy has the knowledge, experience and the wisdom to be a great
Oakland County prosecutor."
Randy and Marc Secontine are co-owners of The Varsity Shop in
downtown Birmingham, a family business that's been around for more than
50 years. Now living in Rochester Hills, Randy Secontine is a 1978
Seaholm High School graduate.
"We grew up working at the store under the guidance of our
father," Marc Secontine said. "He's a great brother and the
most honest guy you'd ever want to meet. I'm really proud of him."

OAKLAND COUNTY Open seat sets stage for hot raceProsecutor's job will be up for grabsDecember 3, 2007 For the first time in more than 20 years, a county-wide seat with no incumbent is up for grabs in Oakland County. And Democrats are ready to pounce. Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca, a Republican, announced shortly after he was elected to a third term in 2004 that he would not seek a fourth term. Now, heavy-hitter Jessica Cooper, a former Michigan Court of Appeals judge with plenty of name recognition, is considering a run. And she has a big push from county Democrats. But Republicans, who have dominated county-wide politics, plan to keep the seat. They are backing career prosecutor Randall Secontine, a courtroom bulldog and current director of office training. Secontine has big names behind him coming into the race, with County Executive L. Brooks Patterson weighing in with an early endorsement and his boss Gorcyca offering support. The filing deadline is May 13. And there still are other names floating around, including Republican state Rep. Dave Law of Commerce Township and Farmington Hills attorney Larry Leib. Leib is expected to challenge Secontine in the primary. Law has not committed. But for now, the talk is Cooper versus Secontine in what may be one of the hottest and most expensive races in recent county history. Should Cooper win, it would be the first time since the early 1980s that a Democrat has held a county-wide seat. Cooper, 60, has had a long career in Oakland County, starting as a 46th District Court judge in Southfield from 1979 to 1986, when she was elected to the Circuit Court bench. She has stopped short of formally announcing her candidacy for prosecutor. "There has been a tremendous groundswell," Cooper said in an interview last week. "Everybody is calling, asking me to do it. I've told them I'm not going to make a final decision until I have a chance to think about it over the holidays and talk it over with people who are close to me." Oakland County Democratic Chairman Dave Woodward said his party is thrilled at the prospect of a Cooper candidacy. "She's got all the right skills, and she's proved her electability," he said. Secontine, 46, who has been a prosecutor for 17 years, said that his track record shows in the trials he has handled and the administrative duties he now is responsible for. "I've talked to a lot of people, and I'm very humbled by the response," Secontine said. "I've vowed to give it everything I have." "I have always been impressed with him," Patterson said. "He would be the man to beat." The seat is a 4-year term and pays $154,583 a year. Contact L.L. BRASIER at 248-858-2262 or brasier@freepress.com.
